SHAFI

An architectural design concept and spatial orientation overview for Shafi's residence designed by Rahul Construction:

Design Concept

  • Massing and Spatial Program: The modern contemporary residence features a total built-up area of 1,769 sq ft, divided into a ground floor of 1,054 sq ft and a first floor of 715 sq ft.

  • Exterior Architecture: The front elevation showcases a striking contemporary composition with asymmetrical geometric volumes, contrasting dark brown and gray-white wall finishes, vertical louvered panels, accent lighting, a round feature window, and upper-level glass-balustrade balconies and terraces.

  • Functional Layout & Zoning: The ground floor contains an entrance sit-out ($235 \times 150 \text{ cm}$) leading into a front living area and a dedicated prayer room ($194 \times 180 \text{ cm}$). It also accommodates a central dining space, a kitchen ($214 \times 350 \text{ cm}$) with an attached work area (W/A), a master bedroom ($294 \times 438 \text{ cm}$), additional bedrooms, and multiple W/C facilities. The first floor features upper living zones, bedrooms ($294 \times 294 \text{ cm}$), an open terrace, and an outdoor balcony ($210 \times 216 \text{ cm}$).

Spatial Orientations

  • Site and Climatic Alignment: The layout incorporates a directional compass indicator (North, South, East, West) to help orient the building relative to local sun paths and wind patterns.

  • Horizontal and Vertical Circulation: Internal traffic flows smoothly from the front sit-out through the core living and dining axis, connected to the upper level via internal staircases.

  • Indoor-Outdoor Connectivity & Fenestration: The design establishes seamless indoor-outdoor transitions through ground-level access points and upper-level balconies/terraces. Perimeter walls feature a comprehensive arrangement of windows (w2, w3, w4, W1) and ventilators to optimize natural ventilation and illumination.
